GERALDINE RIFLES.
The Geraldine Rifles mustered on Thursday evening for parade, 40 strong, and wore, for the first time, their new Kharkee uniforms. Major Moore and Sergt.-Major Jones were both present, and under the direction of the latter the men were put through two hours ordinary drill. After -drill the prizes won on the Queen’s Birthday were presented to the men by Major Moore as follows ; —Corpl. Bethune, 38 points, silver cup, £1 money prize; Corpl. Irvine, 33, teapot, 10s money prize; Corpl. Stonehousc, 32, Geraldine Guardian, 7s 6d money prize ; Col.-Sergt. Stonehonse, 31, cruet, 7s Od money prize ; Corpl. Fiefield, 31, a rug, and special prize pair of trousers, 5s money prize; Private Fleming, 30, an accordeon; Bandsman Kraus, 29, a shirt; Private Stringer, 29, a clock; Private R. Rae, 24, a clock; Private Ward, 23, an album; Bandsman Winefield, 23, Duke of Clarence in frame; Private Fergusson, 22, a bee clock; Bandsman Logau, 22, Chinese teapot; Sergt. Brown, 20, a sheep; Bandsman Sherratt, 20, a knife box; Private E. Heatley, 19, pair vases ; Private Turner, 19, a scrap album ; Private H. Scott, 18, pair of spurs; Private L. Heatley, 18, tin of kerosene; Corpl. Colbert, 17, 1 pair brackets; Private Pizzey, 16, swingletrees; Private Thomas, 15, a lamp ; Bugler Burridge, 13, half-a-dozen fruit trees ; Private Wood, 13, half set horse shoes; Private J. Irvine, 13, a roast of beef; Private Beckley, 11, keg of beer ; Private Scott, 10, pipes; Private Bryant IQ, cigarette case; Private Lawlor, 8, a cake ; Private Post, 8, a feeding bottle; Private Evans, 8, pipes; Private Howes, 7, 1 bottle of whiskey ; Private Cornish, 7, shaving brush; Private A. Scott, 6,2 bags of potatoes ; Private M. McLeod, 2,2 bags of potatoes and bag of carrots; Private McKenzie, 2, pair of spectacles. Bandsman Winefield was also presented with the Company’s Gold Medal recently won by him on the second firing, and Corpl. Bethune was presented with the Company’s Cup won by him on the Queen’s Birthday. In presenting the Cup to Corpl. Bethune Major Moore remarked that he was glad to see him, an old member of the corps who had been away for a number of years, back once more in their ranks, and glad to see that his hand had lost none of its cuuning in shooting. Major Moore also intimated that next year he would give a Challenge Shield, to be fired for on'the Queen’s Birthday, but only men who had earned capitation would be allowed to compete. At the conclusion of the distribution of prizes three hearty cheeers were given for Major Moore, and the company dispersed. Prize Firing;. The following are tlie scores made at the last firing for Lieut. Macdonald’s Cup. Conditions, Bisley targets and scoring at 200,300, and 400 yards ranges ;
