MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD

A meeting of this hoard was held in the Road Board Ofhcc on Friday, June 17th, all the members being present. Correspondence was read—■ From Mr Blair, asking t e hoard to lower the ford.—Overseer to report. From Mr Bain, offering to lease the plantation near Fairlie Creek.—Clerk to r ply. From Mr J. D. Hamilton, asking the hoard to protect Clayton’s road from Rood.—Overseer to inspect. From the Survey Office, Christchurch, returning map. From the Geraldine County Council, informing the board that they had agreed to close certain roads in the Raincliff district. It was resolved that the overseer repair the weak places in the Kakahu and Burke’s Pass road. The clerk was instructed to obtain horse feed for the Fairlie Creek team. Mr Pithie was granted permission to take gravel out of the pit, and the overseer was instructed to report on fords near Mr Pithie’s. Leave of absence was granted to Mr J. G. Dennistoun. Mr C. G. Tripp laid a plan of and report on Tiraaru breakwater and shingle encroachment before the board. The same are open for inspection at the board’s office, Peel Forest. Accounts to the amount of £O2 Os 8d were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
