GERALDINE F. AND H. SOCIETY.

A meeting of the Geraldine Floral, Horticultural, and Industrial Association was held on Friday evening last. Present—Messrs Winstone, Hawkins, J H. Dean, and C. Pye. GENERAL. The secretary was instructed to write to the Christchurch and Timaru Associations for copies of rules. Mr A. Fisher was re-elected secretary. ANNUAL REPORT.

The annual report, which has been prepared since the annual meeting was read and adopted as follows : “ Gentlemen, —Your Committee have much pleasure in presenting you this evening with the seven Jr annual report for the year ending May 19th, 1892, and take this opportunity of offering their congratulations on the marked success of the show held in January last. Both judges and visitors remarked that it was second to none of a like character held in South Canterbury. So great was the number of entries in each class, and also for the special prizes, that additional staging had to be provided in the Volunteer Hall to exhibit them to the best advantage. As a natural sequence there had to be a larger expenditure than had beerr the case in connection with shows held in previous years, and your committee have to hand you their balance-sheet showing a debit balance of 14s Id, being the first year, since the formation of the association, that a committee came before you iu that position. There are some assefs, however, such as certifiicates, tickets, entry cards, etc., belonging to the. association, the value of which will counterbalance the debit. These assets will be available for use at future shows, thus obviating the necessity of further expenditure iu the same direction for the

next show. Your committee in retiring

frym office, do so in the hope that the incoming committee will meet with a still ' farther support at the hands of all classes of exhibitors and the public generally. In conclusion, your committee desire to thank the j udges for the impartial manner iii which they performed their arduous duties; also the special prize donors; the Misses Byrne for so ably presiding at the refreshment stall; the door stewards, and all others who assisted in rendering the show such an unqualified success, and especially Mr J. Williams, who kindly acted as doorkeeper. ’ f-Pft Fish, “ President.”
