THE ANARCHISTS.
London, April 5. In the House of Commons to-day Mr Henry Matthews, Home Secretary, said that if diplomatic remonstrances failed to prevent the Anarchists who had been expelled from continental countries coming to England or appealing to their sympathisers in England for monetary assistance, he would ask that his powers be increased so that he might successfully cope with the difficulty. Paris, April 5. Since his confinement in prison, Ravachal, the Anarchist leader, has freely explained the mode of procedure adopted by his followers, and has also given the police authorities a receipt for preparing an explosive which he declares is three times as powerful a« dynamite. The police have seized a case a case containing dynamite cartridges which was consigned to Matthieu, Ravachal’s principal accomplice, who is still at large. April 6. The Police Office at Angers the capital of the Department of Maire et Loire, was blown up with dynamite, but fortunately the outrage was not attended with loss of life. The bombs which were thrown at the Police office at Angers were of a very deadly character. The building was riddled with bullets, but luckily only one policeman was inside at the time, and he managed to make his escape. The Perfect of Police in Paris received an infernal machine by post. A bomb was discovered in a thoroughfare in Roubaix, in the Department of Nord. The person who found it was severely injured, as it unexpectedly exploded. Madrid, April 5. Written plans have been discovered for dynamiting the Chamber of Deputies and Senate, the Law Courts, the Council of State, the War Office, the Royal Palace, and the Bank of Spain, all before May Ist. It was the intention of the Anarchists to destroy the Royal Chapel while the Queen was attending service in the building. The police made a descent on an Anarchist Club in Madrid, and arrested twelve of the members. They also seized several red flags and a number of disguises which were used by members when about|to participate in an outrage. A largo number of Anarchists in Barcelona have been placed under arrest. April C. A bomb has been exploded in Valencia, happily without loss of life. A quantity of dynamite has been discovered in Malaga, one of the southern provinces. Since the arrest of the Anarchists concerned in the dynamite plot, the attendance of members and visitors in the Cortes has been very much smaller than usual. Roue, April 7. It is reported in this city that the Great Powers will take joint action to suppress the Anarchist movement.
