GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.
SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the above board was held on Tuesday evening. Present— Messrs A. White (chairman), A. Sherratt, H. Dunlop, R. Hammond, and J. Williams. By-law No. 52, with respect to firearms, was amended to read by-law No. 53, and the previous resolution of the board with respect to the by-laws was confirmed. ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the board was l&on held. Present;—Messrs A. White (chairman), B. Hammond, J. Williams, N. Dunlop, A, Sherratt, and W. S. Maslin. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows : From Mr R. Y. Ferguson, asking to have his name substituted on the rate roll in place of James Reid, as occupier of section 112.—Granted. From Mr Robert Scott, applying to his name placed on the rate roll as owner of section 32, Geraldine.—Granted. From the Geraldine County Council, requesting the estimated amount of charitable aid required for year ending March 31, 1893.—The same amount as last year. From the County Council, enclosing return forms for annual balance.—Clerk to fill in the forms. REPORTS. The ranger’s report on stray cattle was read. The overseer’s report on work done during the past month was read. He recommended that the road leading from Mr Heney’s to the school be shingled, the children, in wet weather, not being nUe to walk on it. —It was agreed that tse works committee inspect the road in question, and call for tenders for shingle required ; also to see if other - streets require a few loads of shingle. STREET X.AMPS.
Attention was called to the fact that the street lighting was not effective, and and a motion was' passed asking the. lamplighter to take greater care of the lamps. ! Mr Dunlop considered that the street lighting was far from perfect, and thought that it would be well to increase the number of lamps. It waa deeided that the works committee bo empowered to report on the advisability of increasing the number of lamps, and where they would advise suoh increase ; also to call for tenders for lighting lamps, tenders to bo in by next niseting. UNHJSGISTEJK.ED DOGS. The overseer was instructed to visit ■/ ©very householder in the district owning M a dog, and if any have unregistered dogs to at once hand their names over to the police for prosecution.
RATES. It was minuted that it be advertised in the Geraldine Guardian that all rates outstanding after the 20th inst. bo sued for without further notice. pay sheet. The pay sheet, amounting to £lßl6s 6d, was passed for payment. The board then rose. GERALDINE DOMAIN BOARD. This board met on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs A. White (chairman), J. Williams, R. Hammond, N. Dunlop, A. Sherratt, and W. S. Maslin. lighting fires. It was proposed, seconded, and carried —" That the overseer take tho names of any persons lighting fires in the bush, and, without exception, hand the names in to the police for prosecution, according to the board's norice-board." The overseer was instructed to put up another notice-board in the bush. The board then rose.
