Sydney, March 13. Butter, dairy-made, is quoted at Is Id ; factory-made, Is 3d, It has been shown that two-thirds of the apples grown in Victoria areunsuitod for the London market. Experts urge that new sorts should be planted. It is also stated that inferior tinning is prejudicial to Australian preserved fruit. Melbourne, March 10. The Government estimate the Victorian wheat crop at 13,588,000 bushels, equal to an average of 10J bushels per acre. The total value of wheat, oats, barley, potatoes, and hay raised in the colony is estimated at £4,744,000, the largest amount for several years. ENGLISH AND FOREIGN MARKETS London, March 13. Tallow, mntton, medium, 25s 9d; beef, 24s 3d. The English wheat market is depressed; the American and Continental declining. A cargo of wheat ex Othello from Melbourne sold at about 395. March 14. Oamaru waterworks stock has fallen 5 per cent. The factory-made butter by the Birnutaka realised 112 s to 116 s per cwt. The Union Bank and South Australian Bank are negotiating for amalgamation.
