Oamaru, March 12. At Waimate yesterday Mr Burbury, on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, sold for Mr A. Hayes, of Centrewood, 11,844 sheep, which brought the best prices ever recorded in South Canterbury. Two-tooth crossbred ewes brought 14s 6d; 2-tooth crossbred store wethers, 13s; crossbred store lambs, 9s 2d. Buyers attended from all the districts between Christchurch and Invercargill.
