THE WORLD'S LATEST BEREAVEMENT.

Spurgeon, the wonderful preacher, is dead! This extraordinary genius, who at 16 years of age became a disciple as of old, with the celestial fire strong in him as if the first Pentecost had been but yesterday, who from boyhood held the heart-strings of his audiences in his hands and swayed them as he pleased, eventually becoming the greatest of great Evangelists—will he soon be replaced? We venture to think he will not. Genius, like gold, is exceedingly patchy, and such men rise once in a century. Spurgoon's life-work, unlike that of the men who speak only, but do jiot write, lives after him. His writings and sermons have reached editions of hundreds of thousands, are distributed throughout the universe, being mementoes of indefatigable industry and marvellous devotion to the main object of his career —the welfare of mankind. The malady which bore this eminent divine out of a life of happy usefulness was one which causes more premature deaths than almost any other known disease. The alow poison that sapped his life-stream was that known as Bright's Disease of the kidneys—the erstwhile supposed incurable affection which the ordinary M deriu Medico, is absolutely powodess to combat. But Warner's Safe Cure, by its infallible curative effects, is making great headway against professional prejudice, for the sterling virtues of this remedy, its long establishment and continued success are breaking down the barrier to its adoption, and it is becoming the only recognised specific in severe cases of Bright's Disease. Considering its positive certainty of effect when applied it is to be deprecated that it is not more generally administered in the cases of eminent men, whose brilliant intellects for want of its use become obscured and lost to the world when their sun is shining in all its noonday splendor. As a matter of fact the benefits of Warner's Safe Cure for Bright's Disease have hitherto been participated in chiefly by those who have failed to get relief by other means. One instance of this is verified in the experience of Mr W. D. Thomas, of Bendigo, Victoria, a man well-known in mining and sharebroking circles, who says Tinder date, 22nd December, 1891, Messrs. H. H. WAKNER & CO.

Gentlemen, Iu giving you a brief history ot my recent illness, which, after increasing in intensity during a period of about 4 years, finally culminated in Bright's Disease of the kidneys, accompanied by enlargement and pain in the liver; I will first allude to the chief symptoms. These were vertigo, sleeplessnes, great sediment in the urine, swelling and dropsy of the ankles extreme weakness and debility so as to be unable to walk 50 yards uphill, and great loss in weight. Medical advice was sought at various times and from many sources, but all to no purpose so far as any good effects were produced. Finally, seeing no improvement in my condition, but rather the reverse, I was persuaded by some members of my family to try your Safe Cure and Safe Pills; in which 1 was encouraged and confirmed by reading the testimony in your pamphlet of Mr Geo? Thureau F.G.S., of Tasmania, with whom I had been on terms of intimacy in previous years. Iso far persevered with the medicines, that for a period of six months I took If bottles of Safe Cure per week, and the necessary quantity of Pills. I may also say that 1 strictly adhered to your dietary scale and other instructions, by which, no doubt, the cure was accelerated. The happy result is that a gradual improvement in all respects has beeu effected in my system, particularly as to the elimination of albumen from the urine, until at the present time, I am not only quite well, but enjoy better health than I have for many years past and have recovered normal weight. (Supud) W. D. Thomas, Mining and Share Investor.
