DUNEDIN WOOL SALES. Dunedin, Feb. 26. The fourth wool sale of the season was held to-day. The attendance of buyers was moderate, the catalogue rather small, and the quality scarcely up to former lots. The prices realised were within a Jd of those ruling at the last sale for similar quality. Greasy crossbred realised 5d to 9d, and greasy merino 4fd to 7d. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Feb. 26. The Sydney Deposit Bank, which recently suspended payment, has been declared bankrupt. The annual report of the Mutual Life Association shows the new business for the year amounted to £533,000, and that the total yearly revenue was oyer £200,000. The surplus available for division among policy holders is £42,000, providing reversionary bonuses aggregating £95,000. ENGLISH AND FOREIGN MARKETS. London, Feb, 20. The directors of the London Chartered Bank ascribe the decline in colonial stocks to the market being flooded with securities offered by executors in consequence of the numerous deaths which have occurred this winter. ’ Feb. 26. Three months’ bills are discounted at 2f per cent. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 100$ ; 3£ per cent, ditto, 02J. New Zealand long-berried wheat is firmer at 445. Quotations for frozen meat are unchanged. New Zealand hemp is in poor demand at late rates. South Australian wheat is firm at 44s ; Victorian is also film at 43s 9d. Australian flour is firmer at 40s, For Australian wheat on passage sellers ask 41 s, but buyers offer 40s. Feb. 27. At the adjourned meeting of the New Zealand Mortgage and Investment Association (Limited) to-day to consider the position of the association owing to its recent losses, the profit and loss account presented showed a debit of £157,000. The free assists are estimated at £50,000 Tlie chairman of the company, in ad dressing the meeting, said that he was afraid there were no better times in store for New Zealand,' and many were sick unto death of New Zealand investments. The question of placing the company in liquidation was postponed until annual meeting. Heavy ox hides are fetching 3Jd per 3b, and light 2fd. For three off-coast cargoes of Australian wheat 37s 0d was bid, but tho sellers j asked 39s*
