London, Feb. 25. Twenty thousand miners are under notice.

The Scotch miners are going out on strike as an indication that they have acquiesced in the attitude adopted by their fellow-workmen in England and Wales.

At a meeting of the Royal Colonial Institute, Mr Arthur Clayden, of New Zealand, attacked the management of the Tories in most of the Australian colonies, where labor interests, he said, were ignored. Feb. 26. A delegate from the Trade Council of Dublin requested the Royal Commission on Labor to support the imposition of a tax on machinery. In Stockport 80,000 miners are handing in notices to cease working on March 12th, in accordance with the resolution passed by the Miners’ Federation. Berlin, Feb. 25. Riots among unemployed are taking place in Brunswick, A number of the unemployed in Berlin stormed the butchers’ and bakers’ shops under cover of darkness. Repeated conflicts have taken place between the unemployed and the police, who charged the rioters, wounding j many of them. Eighty arrests have been made, Feb. 28. There is much distress prevalent in Berlin. The Social Domocrats appeal to the operatives to abstain from violence. Thousands of Socialists and unemployed have renewed rioting in several | parts of the city. They paraded the principal streets, carrying red flags, and wrecked prominent jewellers’ shops. The whole of the police force are kept on duty, but the troops are confined to the barracks. The mob attempted to prevent soldiers from mounting guard at the palace, but were charged by the Horse and Foot Guards. In the riots many of the rioters were sabred, and several of the ringleaders were arrested. The Emperor, attended by an aide-de-camp and two police, rode through the streets and was cheered by the populace. The roughs attempted to renew the riots on Friday night, and a few shops were looted. The police, who used their sabres, managed to suppress the disorder, and took many of the rioters into custody. Vienna Feb. 26. The social Democrats are supplying food to 30,000 unemployed in the city, Feb. 27. Many painful starvation scenes are witnessed in this city. The authorities are distributing thousands of loaves of bread among the hungry. Adelaide, Feb. 26. The Labor party have selected fifteen candidates to contest seats at the next general election.
