CRICKET.

Temuka again suffered defeat at the hands of the Colonial Cricket Club on Saturday, having to meet a stronger team than they did on the first occasion, and being defeated by two runs only. It is plainly evident that our men must go m for steady practice if they expect to win matches. Temuka were the first to bat, but only Bryars and Dignan seemed able to score off the good bowling of Phillpott and Gray. Dignan soon rattled up 16 runs, and Bryars, by correct play, carried his bat right through the innings for 21 runs, the total being 50. The Colonials shaped very little better than the local men, A. G. Boys 12, and Thompson 15, being the only men to reach double figures, When five of the wickets were down the score was 30 runs, but Hayhurst’a bowling was too good for the remainder, and the small number of two runs only were put on when the last wicket fell.
