CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE.

The following is the Corn Exchange report (per N. P. Mfey erS} Secretary), for the week ending Jan. 22nd ;

The harvest is now in full swing, and owing to the broken weather farmers are especially busy. The threshing machines have scarcely commenced operations in the cereals, but there is plenty of grass seed offering, which, however, is yery sparingly taken up. Old wheat is offering plentifully, but buyers are not anxious. No new samples are yet in the market. Oats are dull of sale owing to the large quantities of new that are on hand. Barley—Maltsters are waiting patiently for the new crop, and decline to operate with old samples. The cocksfoot harvest promises to be an exceptionally good yield, and the quality should be first class, but price o " " yei are not determined, Dairy produce is brisk a* Quotations. The following are the prices for the week:—

Wheat —Prime milling tuscan, 4s 3d to 4s 2d ; hunters, 4s Id (chiefly restricted to millers) ; fowl, 3s 6d to 3s 9d.

Oats—(Old), milling. Is lOd to Is lid ; short feed, ls9d; long and inferior, Is Bd. Barley, Beans, and Peas—No business doing.

Grass Seeds—Rye, farmers’ lines, 2s 6d to 3s ; cocksfoot, none offering. Dairy Produce —Butter, prime factory make, 7id to 8d; farmers’ keg, 7d. Cheese, ordinary sizes, 3£d to 4d; loaf shape, 6d. The above quotations are those paid to farmers, f.o.b. Lyttelton, sacks dxtra,
