TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.

A special meeting’ of the above board was J held in tiie Town Board office last evening. Present —Messrs Blyth (chairman), Coira, Clinch, Mason, and Storey. TENDERS. The chairman having explained that it was principally to open tenders (with one or two items of urgent business) that the board had met, Contract 41, for scouring out open discharge drain from back of Star Hotel through railway, police, and part of park reserves, was first considered : —Geo. Hart, £ 1 ]oa (accepted); H. Lynch, £3 11s 3d; G. Broderick, £2 ss. One informal tender was received. Contract No. 42, forming 20 chains more or less in Thomas and Godley streets —P. O’Mara, £8 8s; Thos. Davis, _£7 9s (id: Wm. Hopkinson, £l2; Jas. Cain, £(5 13s (accepted). COEKESI’ONDENCE. A letter from Mr Jas. Davis to the chairman, in answer to one from the board requiring him to open road across which he had erected a fence, was read and considered; also one from Messrs Duncan, Cotterill. and Martin, that such a street as “ Temuka Terrace ” was marked on Mr Hewlings’ maps, and that no one had been authorised to fence or occupy the same. After some discussion it was resolved that the board meet and inspect the site at 10 o clo-k this (Thursday) morning. The board then adjourned.
