WINCHESTER PUBLIC SPORTS.

A meeting of those interested in holding sports in Winchester on Anniversary Day, 1891, was held in the Public Hail on the 7th instant. There were between twenty and thirty persons present, and more interest was shown in the matter than on former occasions, Mr Pobert Smth was voted to the chair, and after briefly explaining the object in calling the meeting asked for suggestions on the matter. It was decided unanimously to hold the sports as usual on Anniversary Day. The election of officers then took place, and resulted as follows ; —President, A. E. G. Rhodes, Esq., M.H.R. (reelected) ; Vice-presidents, Messrs R. Smith, J. A. Young, J. Twigg, and Win. Deßenzy. Secretary, Mr Win. Stewart, jun. (re-elected) ; Treasurer, Mr Thomas Twigg; Committee, Messrs P. Shallard, A. Shallard, D. Lewis, W. Brinkman, Jas. Austin, A, Moore, John Twigg, T. Hart, A. Hart, J. South, and H. Smith, with power to add to the nnmber. The secretary was instructed to prepare subscription lists at once, and notify to the public through an issue of the local papers that sports would be held on the day decided upon. It was decided to liold the next meeting on Saturday next, and a vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings.
