BURNING OF HILON HOTEL.
Between three and four o,clock yesterday morning the Hilton Hotel was burned ’to the ground, and no one can give any reason as to the cause of it. Mr Homes, when questioned, said that he was asleep on the premises at the time, with two other persons. The others discovered the fire aud woke him up. This was the first he knew of it. Nothing definite is yet knwn as to the insurance, but we under stand that the furniture is insured in the Liverpool, and London Globe ofiice, and the building, which was owned by the Crown Brewery Company, Christchurch, in the Union Office.
