AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS.
Messrs Gracie. Maclean, and Co. report for the past fortnight, as follows :
Horses—At the Tiraaru Horse Bazaar on the 3rd inst.', after the annual horie parade, we offered several entries, but with one exception they were passed into the bid of the owners, the only one sold being the draught entire Loch Gyle, at 39 guineas. We next offered on account of Mr-'D. Sutherland, Omarama,a consignment of 5 Shetland ponies. These were, competed for very freely and realised, an average of £lo.' Our entry of draughts and light horses on the same day numbered 40 head, of which a fair proportion was sold. To-day we entered 31, but sales were slow; we quote medium to good draughts at from £l4 to £23, inferior £5 to £l2, hacks and buggy horses up to £ls/104. Sheep —At Temuka on the''22nd September, there was a good entry all round; we sold 234 crossbred hoggets at lis Bd, 200 4-tooth crossbreds at 14s 9d, 70 wethers and ewes at 15s 7d,, and on the 6th inst., 38 ewes and wethers at 15s 6d, 156 crossbred hoggets at 13s 4d, 98 ewes wethers at 14s 3d. At Washdyke, on the sth inst., there was a small entry and but little business; we, sold fat ewes at 14s 9d, ewes with lambs at lis. 'At Pleasant Point, on the Ist inst., the yarding was not quite up to the average, but most of the lines changed hands; we sold 104 4tooth wethers at 15s 6d, 100 ewes and wethers at 15s Bd, 62 do do at 15s sd, 41 fat ewes at 13s sd.
Cattle—There is . a demand at present for yonng cattle, say, from 12 to 18 months old, and also for 3 and 4-year-old steers, in forward condition. The few fat cattle coming forward met with buyers at good values. At Temuka, we sold on the 22nd September 100 head mixed stores at from £2lss to £4 10s, yearlings 27s 6d, 2 fat steers at £5 2s 6d. At Pleasant Point we sold 5 bullocks and cows at £6 17s 6d, 3 cowb at £4 7s 6d. Sheepskins—Since our last report we have sold 2600 skins, but We regret to say that prices have declined very considerably, but crossbreds sold at,ss to 5s lid. medium 3s 6d to 4s 9d, merino 3 from 3s 6d to 4s 9d.
