Live stock—horses, 211,040; brood mares (included in the foregoing), 31,276; asses and mules, 348; cattle (including calves), 788,919; breeding cows' (included in the foregoing), 280,711; milch cows (also included in breeding cows), 206,906; sheep (including lambs), 19,865,423 ; breeding ewes (included in the foregoing), 7,371,429; goats, 9055; pigs, 222,553; total of all descriptions, 19,097,338. Poultry, 1,790,070. The Maori returns, which are not included in the above, show—sheep, 251,763; cattle, 42,912; pigs, 86,256.
