MAIL NOTICES.

The letter-box will be cleared for despatch of correspondence from the Temuka Post Office to the undermentioned places as follow :

For Wellington, Picton, and Nelson, per Penguin, on Saturday, October 10th, at 5 p.m.

In consequence of the colony joining the Postal Union, the following rate of postage came into force on Ist October :

Letters for United Kingdom via Brindisi or Naples, to British colonies or possessions beyond Australia, and to all foreign countries, 2£d per ioz, (Letters for transmission via Brindisi or Naples must be specially addressed.) Post Cards to United Kingdom, British colonies or possessions beyond Australia, aq.d all foreign countries, single card l£d, reply card 3d; reply cards may also be sent to Australia and the South Sea Islands at the same rate as New Zealand.

Commercial papers, delivered in town of posting, not exceeding 50Z., Id; exceeding half ounce, or for delivery from one postoffice to another, and to Australian colonies and South Sea Islands Id first four ounces, and id every additional two ounces or fraction ; to United Kingdom, other British colonies or possessions, and foreign countries, 2id first five ounces, and Id every additional two ounces or fraction.

Bona fide trade and professional accounts will be accepted as commercial papers for transmission within New Zealand only. Printed papers, including books, within the colony, id per two ounces or fraction ; beyond the colony, Id first four ounces, and id each additional two ounces or fraction.

Patterns and samples everywhere Id first four ounces and £d each additional two ounces or fraction.

Newspapers —No changes inland, Australasia, or United Kingdom ; other places, Id first four ounces, every additional two ounces or fraction.

Registration—Universal fee, 3d; senders may obtain acknowledgment of receipt from addressees by prepayment of special fee of 2£d. The redirection fee is abolished altogether. A. W. MANN, Postmaster.
