TIMARU HORSE PARADE.
There was a very large attendance at the Timaru Horse Parade last Saturday but the number of horses exhibited was not so large as in former years. The quality, however, made up for it. A finer lot it would not be easy to see. Amongst the Clydesdales Bonny Breast Knot was in splendid form, and as he was breed in this district, being half brother to, Early Morning, we of course have a kindly regard for him. He has now filled out splendidly and is a very fine horse. His brother, Banker, the property of Mr A. Toomey, of Kakahu, bids fair to outrival him. Bonny Breast Knot is six years old, but Banker is only four, and consequently has time enough yet to grow. He is at present a splendid horse, and is a better color than either Early Morning or Bonny Breast Knot, being a rather dark bay. In a couple of years he will be one of the finest if not altogether the best horses in the district. He is now a handsome horse with splendid action and good bone, and ought to be sought after. Mr Eraser's Young Emperor, the winner of four champion prizes, was shown in splendid condition. He is a very dark bay, and shows all the good points of the pure-bred Clydesdale. This is his second season in the district, and from his success last year we should judge he ought to do well. He is well-bred, very quiet, and good tempered, and altogether a valuable sire. Mr James Austin's Craigievar was also in excellent condition, and has all the points of a good horse. Champion, a three-year-old colt by Lord Haddo, dam Duchess of Glasgow, is also a very promising horse. The other horses shown will not travel this district. The four thorougbred horses were really good, but none of them will travel this district, and we shall pass on to the more useful class, the coaching stallions, the first on the list being Texas, the property of Mr John Murphy, of Pleasant Point. This is a beautiful horse by Berlin, dam Shales. He is a rather dark iron-grey with splendid action, and a really handsome horse. As a sira for breeding coaching horses he is in our opinion all that could be desired. The entry of horses was as follow: — Mr James Austin's Craigievar, by Old Times—Maggie.
