BAND OF HOPE.

A meeting of the Presbyterian Sabbath School Band af Hope, Temuka, was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Temuka, on Thursday evening, the Hall being packed with parents and children. The Rev. Mr Watters occupied the dhair, when a long varied, and interesting programme was gone through, consisting of songs, recitations, and dialogues. Miss Gobdey presided at the harmonium. The programme was as follows: Hymn 272 (Sankey’s) ; recitation, “ Only a year, ago,” Thomas Monaghan; song, “ Now don’t you know the reason,” E. Lynch, A. Preddy, E. Watt, R. Goodey, M. and N. Heywood, A. Monaghan, A. Nicholas, L. Preddy, E. Rawe, E. ‘ Darroch : dialogue, “ Wanted a Caachman/ R. Goodey, S. Bates, E. Cooper, T. Fenton, and Peter Grant; recitation, “ The orphan,” Lottie Henry; recitation, “Father’s ship,” Ruth Goodey; recitation, “The dog and the sausages,” Alfred Storey; reading, “The bashful man,” Mr (Houston; duet, “ Beautiful Home,” Misses Taylor and Smith; recitation, “ Growing,” Agnes Preddy and May Heywood; song, “Little Jane,” Amy Cooper; dialogue, “The Temperance alphabet,” ; E. Rowe, R. Goodey, A. Monaghan, E, Lynch, and E. Watt; recitation, “ Prohibition,” J. Davey; song, “ Right men are wanted,” B. Lyon, E. Storey, A. Preddy, T. Monaghan, Mi. Heywood, J. and R. Fenton, R. Goodey, F. Ardeel; hymn 345; dialogue, “The poisoned darkies,” F. Storey, G. Bowman, G. Morton; (tea); recitation, « Going downhill,” Sarah Darroch ; hymn 1 (Sankey’s). Every item was loudly applauded. During the evening the senior girls and boys handed round tea and provisions of all kinds, which were partaken of freely. The Rev. Mr Watters called upon the boys and girls to give three hearty cheers to those ladies who had so liberally provided the tea tables. The pronouncing of the benediction brought a moat successful meeting to a close.
