CHILIAN REBELLION.
Valparaiso, September 1. The cruisers Esmeralda aid Lynch, accompanied by transports, have started for Coquimbo, where the loyalists are rallying. General Baquedamo has been appointed interim President. The foreign admirals have refused to surrender the refugee officials unless they are guaranteed a fair trial. Later. The Government officials condemned to death will be shot to-morrow.
Sept. 2. Coquirnbo has surrendered to the Congressional party. i Fearful scens of riot and violence have occurre'd at Concepcion and Coronal. The latter place was sacked by the mob, and indulged in excesses of the worst kind. Women were abused under circumstances of revolting brutality. The German warships are protecting the place. At Talcahuano the troops revolted and were joined by four thousand miners. The men shot all their officers and sacked the town.
There is a violent feeling against Mr Egan, the American Minister, who is accused of harbouring refugee officials in American warships. Order has been restored in Santiago. A German cruiser, with Don Claudio Vicuna, who was to have succeeded Balmaceda, and many other official refugees, has gone north and will, it is believed, land them at Callao. It has been found impossible to bury those killed in Friday's battle and the bodies will be cremated.
The insurgents' pursuit of the Government cruisers, Condell and Imperial, has been fruitless. New York. Sept. 2.
A rumour has found publicity here that Balmaceda while fleeing from Sautiago, enraged at/the slowness of the muleteer, struck him and was shot dead by the man. The rumor, however has not been confirmed.
A New York Herald's special from Chili states that President Balmaceda was at Talcahuano when he learned the final defeat of his army, and he immediately disbanded {he troops he had with him, The farmers are begging the Courts to issue an injunction to restrain the banks from paying President Balmaceda's bonds.
. Another report received from Chili is to the effect that President Balmaceda was overtaken by his pursuers and shot, but the news has not yet been confirmed.
London, Sept. 2,
The passengers who arrived from Chili by the Aconcagua were overjoyed at the defeat of President Balmaceda, whom they denounced as a bloodthirsty villain. They rebooked passages to Chili. Paris, Sept. 2. President Balmaceda has telegraphed to his friends in Paris that he is coming to Europe.
