DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS.
At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted :
Fat Cattle-—lB3 head yarded. Nearly all were bullocks, but none were extra heavy weights. The demand was brisk all through the sale, and prices showed an improvement on last week’s values of 20s to 30s a head. Best bullocks sold at £7 10s to £9 75.6 d; medium, £5 10s to £6 15s ; light, £3 5s to £llss ; cows and heifers, £3 to £5 17s 6d. Fat Sheep—243s yarded," including about 250 merinos. Nearly all were wethers, and a large proportion nice quality mutton, several pens being extra prime and heavy. At no time during the sale was the demand very brisk, and prices show little or no improvement on last week’s. Best crossbred wethers sold at 18s to 21s ; medium, 15s to 17s 6d; light, 12s to 14s: best crossbred ewes, 13s to 14s ; ordinary, 11s 6d to 12s 9d; merino wethers, 8s to 13s 6d. Pigs—l6o penned. The demand was exceedingly slack, and prices all through ruled in favor of buyers. Suckers sold at 5s 6d to 10s 6d; slips, 12s 6d to 15s; stores, 16s to 20s; porkers, 21s to 26s 6d; baconers, 27s to 30s,

Oats, feeding, Is lOd to 2s Id; seed," 2s Id. Maize, 2s 3d. Bran, 9jd; pollard, 9jd. Peas, 3s 3d to 3s. Potatoes, New Zealand, £2 to £2 ss; Circular Heads, £3 to £3 ss. Onions, £3 15s to £4. Butter, imported dairy-made, Is 2d tols4d; factory-made, Is 5d to ls7d; local dairy-made, Is 6d; factory made, Is 9d. Cheese, 6d to 7jd. Bacon, machine-cured, 5d to 6d; hand-cured, 6d ; • hams, New Zealand, lOd to lid.
Melbourne, August 26. ■ Wheat is in strong demand, fair milling, ss, holders quote to 5s 3d. Oats, 2s to 2s 2d. Barley, feeding, 2s; malting, 3s 3d. Peas, 2s sd. Bran, lljd, Adelaide, August 26. The wheat market is strong but unsettled. Holders firm at 4s lid to ss. Flour, stone-makes, £lO to £lO 10s; roller brands, £lolss to £ll. Oats, New Zealand, 2s 2d to 2s 4d. Barley, Cape, 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; English malting, 2s 9d to ■4s. Bran, Is to Is Id; pollard, Is to Is Id.
