Stag Hunt Fiasco.— Mr Lingard, secretary to the Wellington Hunt Club, has forwarded a letter to the Governor giving the opinion of a veterinary surgeon who examined the stag, that the animal died from being too fat internally to be hunted. It was nearly full grown and was wild in the bush a few months ago. jfyfr Lingard expresses the regret of the cfub jthat their effort to introduce stag hunting shpuld have had such an unfortunate termination. In reply the Governor says that he accepts with pleasure the manly and straightforward expression of regret felt by members of the club, but adheres to the withdrawal of his patronage.
