DARKTOWN (TEMUKA) V. WANDERERS (GERALDINE)

The return match between the above teams took place in Temuka on Thursday, and resulted in a win for the -home team by 7 points to nil. The game was played in two spells of 45 minutes. The forwards of the Geraldine team were better than their opponents, while their backs play a very poor game. The Taylor Bros., Morrison, Stringer, and Smith showed up well for the Wanderers, while for Darktown Andersen, M. Gaffaney, Canv. and Lilburne were the pick of the forwards. . Among the backs Campbell, M. Brosnahan, and P. McCaskill played well, the splendid kicking of the latter being mnch admired. The scores were made up as follows:—J. Morton and M. Brosnahan scored a try each, the first try being converted by Spillane, and a potted goal by T. Brosnahan. Messrs R Morrison and D. McCaskill acted as umpires, while Mr J. Anderson officiated. :as referee, ; their decisions giving general satisfaction. .
