A DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.
Sydney, Jane 18. A disastrous fire burst oat at 6 [o'clock this 1 morning; in the fine fourstorey wharehonse of Messrs 'McLean .Bros. and lf ßigg, ironmongers, situated in George Street. When first discovered the fire bad a brm hold of the premises, whicbhave been completely destroyed, [The flames were confined to Messrs McLean’s . store, bat email buildings adjoining.were demolished by falling Walls. McLean Bros, sad Rigg’s stack was insured for £24,000. The South British had a line of £ISOO, and the National New Zealand £IOOO. The bnilding was insured fer £6250. On Buckingham and Pepper’s stock, which was insured for £6OOO, ihe South British had a risk of £SOO, and tha Standard of £IOOO. Hsnk’e stock was insured for £BOOO. The damage is es’imated at between £30,000 and £40,000.
