Correspondence/was read — From the Education Board, notifying that the committee's request for the painting and whitewashing of the school must be deferred for future consideration. —Mr Storey said that the Education Board had a number of similar applications before them, and purposed dealing with them all together. The secretary to the Education Eoard wrote, under date June Btk, advising that Mr Strong had been appointed to the position of fourth teacher in accordance with the committee's recommendation, and that he would be prepared to take up his duties on the 15th. In the meanwhile Mr Goldstone's position could be temporarily filled. The secretary itated that the headmaster had made the necessary arrangements. HEAD MASTER'S BEPOET. The headmaster's report was as follows: — Si*, —I-have the honor to submit the following report for May :~ Boys. Girla". Total. Tke secretary detailed the arrangements he had made re the construction of a graded floor. Six local tradesmen had been asked to tender for the work, and the following tenders had been received J. Mclsnes, £7; F. Cblville, J 67; Comer & Larcombe, dE(slss.—On the motion of Mr Storey, ■econded by Mr McCaskill, the tender of Messrs Comer & Larcombe was accepted. HOMDAYS. The question of the winter holidays was discussed, and Mr Yelvin stated that the parents as a rule were opposed to long holidays. Be moved that the school close for a week, and at th<» suggestion of Mr Storey would fix the date at from June 26th to July 6tH. ; s The chairman said that the pupil teachers would have to go up for examination on the 30th, and it would only be fair toiihem to give the fortnight as usual. The pupil teachers had to work hard, and should uot be deprived of their holidays. Mr Brown and Mr Russell concurred, and'the former moved—" That the holidays be from Friday, 26th, to Monday, July 15th." Mr MeCaskill seconded the motion, whiod was carried, TISITOES. Messrs Cooper and Storey were re-appointed' visitors, they having had no opportunity of visiting the school daring the past month. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £$ 4m 3d were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
