OTEESBEB'S BEPOBT. The overseer reported as follows: —■ “ To the Chairman and Commissioners ■ Arowbenua Town Board. “ Bib,t-I hare the honor to report that since last meeting a portion of branch creek from section 871 to 789 has'been cleaned, one man being employed for 6 days. This was a somewhat tedious job, as the creekbed was to a great extent overgrown by willow roots. Applications have been made to me to have the cleaning continued to the cemetery and to Ackroyd’s bridge. This, although a useful, is not now an urgent work. The small bridge at the cemetery requires a new plank. Certain road repairs necessitated by the grain carting should now be done. 1 hey would entail the employment of a surfaceman for a week or ten days. Water still accumulates at the corner near Mr Eli Brattley’s, and I would recommend that pipes be placed across the road to take the same into the main road drain. The works recommended to the Land Board some months ago could now be conveniently earned out, but no reply has been received from
them nor has the amount accrued been forwarded. The contractor for channel cleaning has been going over his work for the second time, and has made very good progress. The roads generally appear to he in fair repair and beyond the labor mentioned above will not require attention for some lime.” The overseer was authorised to have culvert put in as suggested, To have a plauk put in the bridge put in at the cemetery. He was instructed to have the handrail at John street footbridge strengthened. He was also instructed to have surface repairs executed. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Brown, seconded by Mr Frew, that tenders be invited for the formation of John Street, from Alexander to High Street, the work to include the formation of a crossing at Shaw street. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £5 12s were passed for payment. The meeting then terminated.
