TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.
The regular monthly meeting of tho above was held last night, Frassnt— Messrs J, Blyth (chairman), P. Ooira, W. Storey, G. Mason, and S. Clinch. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence wss read as follows : From Messrs Aspinall & Salmond, consenting to the name of Mr J. W. Salmond being placed on the roll in respect of premises lately occupied by Mr J. Aahwell, | and from the latter assenting to same. From Messrs Perry, Perry, and Kinnersey,'’enclosing cheque value £9 4» 2J, in payment ef account for asphalting: From Mr B. Brown, requesting' permission to have a crossing made to one of his houses on Railway Terrace,—Overseer to attend. From Mr E. C. Dana, asking that his name be removed from the roll in respect of part of section No. 1, sad that of Mr J. T*. M, Hay hurst inserted. From Messrs Aspinall & Salmond applying to have certain substitutions made on the roil in respect of properties now in the name ef Mr W. Esaery.—Attended to. From Mr A. W. Gaze, asking permission to be allowed to put a creasing to bis premises, Ma<n South Road. From Messrs Yelvin & Taylor, a«king to have the name of Mr D. Taplor placed on tbs roll in respect of pieperty formerly charged to them. From tha Geraldine County Council, asking for returns of receipts and expenditure to be made on forms forwarded. From Messrs Monaghsu and Laing, asking for payment of balance of amount held over in respect of asphalt contract. — Passed for payment. From Mr James Davisa, quoting price for carting and spreading ahingle. From Messrs W. Hopkinaon, H. Elkia, and 0, Batemap, quoting price for carting only.—Mr Davies’s price had been approved of by the chairman and overseer, and the work let to him. OVERSEER'S BETOBT. The everaeer’a report waa to the fellowingeffect He bad received four offers for carting shingle, and that of Mr Davit had been accepted as it included spreading the aame. On the borih side of Wood street he found thnt only five loads a day could be delivered. He considered from observation that at the outside only six could be delivered, ai d declining to be aoswerahle for amount of ahingle carted, with the approval of the board he bad now stopped carting. A of defaulters waa laid on the table. Ha reminded the board that the 1-ases of reserves would shortly expire. SHINGLE CARTING. The question of carting ahingle for repairs V;is discussed. It was considered very unsatisfactory that the ahingle should be carted without the surfaceman being there to i«liy and it was resolved to give the carting to tbe next tenderer, not less than 20 yards per day to be carted. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to lire amount of £6B 19awere passed for payment and the meeting terminated.
