All tbe Belgian miners who were on strike demanding the adoption of tbe eight hoars system have resumed work. Bebmbt, Majr 21. The Pope has written to tb« Emperor urging him to assist in carrying out tbe proposals contained in the encyclical letter of his Holiness for State intervention between capital and labor, Auckland, May 23.
At the annaal meeting ot the Auckland Trades and Labour Council the balance-sheet showed the receipts for the year to be £563 and the expenditure £555.
