WAIHI V. TIMARU.

A match between teams representing these clubs was arranged to take place in Timaru last Saturday afternoon. Owing to a breakdown on the road to Timaru tke Waiki players did not reach the ground until shortly before 5 o'clock, when it was decided to play one spell of thirty-five minutes. Timaru won the toss, and chose the western goal. The game was well contested, .and resulted in a draw, neither side scoring, ihe display of football is said to bare been the best yet seen in Timaru this season. TIMARU MAIN SCHOOL V. TEMUKA DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. A football match between teams representing Timaru Main and Temuka District High Schools was played in Temuka last Saturday, and resulted in a win for the Temuka boys by 4 tries to 2. Smith, Spillane, Fenton, and McLeod scored for Temuka, and Oxby obtained both tries for Timaru, none of which were converted, though Orerar made two fine attempts for the visitors. Smith, of Temuka, made some splendid runs, and would hare scored repeatedly had he not been] grassed: in fine style by Timaru's little full-back, Wiggs. Passmore, Crerar, West, and two others whose names we do not know, played best for Timaru, and F. Storey, Morten, F. Grant, Palmer, and Franks worked hard for Temuka. The game was very quiet and friendly, the referee, Mr Velvin, having to blow the whistle no more than 4 times. Messrs Blake and Groldstone acted ai umpires for Timaru and Temuka respectively.

A match has been arranged between teams representing the Temuka Bifies and Civilians, to take place in the Temuka Park on Thursday, next. Much interest is being taken in it, and the game will be a moat interesting one. The teams are not being confined to the usual complement of men, at. will be seen from the following who will represent the Civilians:—Russell, MeLeod, G-. Yelvin, Gillespie, Anderson, Armitage, Gaffaney, Fitzgerald, Brosnahan (2), McKinley, C. Ollirer, Duncan, McOallum, Pelaschek, Bryan, Murray, Holden, McLean, McKay, McCaskiil (3), J. Yelvin, Angland, Dann, Lee (3), Philips. Any players whose names hare been omitted in the list are cordially invited to take part in the game.
