OHRI9TOHUBOH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addington yards on Wed there was a good entry o ■lock. Store Sheep-—The sale of ston sheep was nothing like so brisk ai recent sales, the demand being con fined to good turnip sheep. Of tbi 600 offered several lines of aged breed ing ewes were withdrawn. The salei affected comprised crossbred lambi which were all cleared at from 7s 6to 9s Id, they forming the greatei proportion of the entry; cressbrer ewes with sound mouths Bs, 8s 5d 8s Bd, young ewes in forward dition lls Bd, 2 and 4-tooths mixed 12s 2d, aged ewes 5s 6d, merino ewe* in forward condition 7s and 7s 6d,. old ewes 2s 8d to 8s 9d. Eat Sheep—ln fat sheep, about 4500 'were penned, of which then were very few prime crossbred sheep the. majority being lightweight crossbred ewes and wethers. Best wethers and maiden ewes brought from 14s 6d to 19s 3d, crossbred wethers 17s 9d. lighter weight ewes 9s to 12s. There were leas merino for sale than usual god these brought from 7s 6d to 10s 9d.

Fat Lambs—The season for lambs being over, there were very few yarded, and the demand for them was so small that more than half were withdrawn. The sales were unimportant Fat Cattle—Of 182 head yarded, best sold up to £7 7s 6d, or equal to 18s to 19s per 1001 b, but the. general average of the sale was considerably below that quality. Old cows were hard to dispose of at any price. Store Cattle—The sale of store cattle was soon over as the quantity was small and demand slack. : Only those compelled to quit their stock did so at unsatisfactory - prices. A line of nine months-old calves sold at £1 for freezing being in good condition. Eighteen months-old steers brought £2 7s and a line of mixed sorts scarcely as old £1 17s. Cows sold at a variety of prices. The demand for dairy cows was not good, as the quality of those entered was not up to the standard. ' . * Pigs—there was an immense entry of bacon pigs, all the yards and lamb pens being filled, and several sheeppens bad to be utilised for them [’here were over 600, bnt only; a few porkers among them. The immense supply caused a considerable drop in values equal to about 2s to 3s a bead on bacon pigs, which were all bought for instant slaughter.

DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday:— Wheat—Market continues to rise. Prime tuscaus and velvets, 4s 8d to 4s 9d; other good milling sorts, 4s 6d to 4s 7d.' Fowls’:, wheat* good whole, 3s lOd to 4s 2d. Barley Malting, 8s to 3s 3d; milling, 2s 4d to 2s 6d; feed, 2s to 2s 2d; pearl barley, £l3. Oats—Market firm ; all coming forward are easily placed. Prime milling, Is 6|; bright plump feed, la 6d to Is 6td ; off color, Is 4d to Is s|d. Flour Timaru roller. £l2 ; Oamaru town and southern atone, £ll ss. Oatmeal, long ton bulk and 25’s, £8 10s; 7’s, £lO. Bran, £3. Sharps, £4. Potatoes—Oamaru, £2 5a to £2 10s. Pigs—Good bacon siaes, B£d to B£d ; bacon, fid to 6d; hams, 7d to Bd. Chaft—4ss to 50s. Turnips—l6s to 18s. Carrots, 35s to 40s. Straw—Oaten and wheaten, 30s to 35a. Hay, oaten, £3. Clover and ryegrass hay, £3 ss, Butter—Prime salt in demand, 7d to 7|d. Eggs—Scarce. Honey, 5d per lb. Cheese —Akaroa, 3£d to 4d. Onions— £s. Grass Seeds—Ryegrass (farmers’), 3s 9d- to 4s 6d; machined, 5s 6d; cocksfoot, 4|dd to s£d per lb>

Hides—There is no alteration in the market to report. Quotations as follows:—For inferior and slippy Id to li; light, to l|-d; medium, 2d to 2£d; up to 601 b, 2fd to 3d ;( 651 b and np to 801 b, in good condition, £d to Id per lb more. Tallow—Quotations for best rendered mutton, 18s 6d to 20s; medium to good, 15s 6d to 17s 6d; inferior and mixed, 12s to Isa ; and for rough fat, best clean caul, 13s to 13s 6d; inferior to medium aod good, 9s to 12s 6d per cwt Sheepskins—On Tuesday country dry crossbreds, inferior to medium, brought Is lOd lo 3s lOd; do do merino, Is lid to 3s 9d; full-woolled crossbreds, 5s to 7s 6d; do do merino, 4s 6d to 6s Id ; dry pelts, 2d to Is 9d ; butchers’ green crossbreds, best, brought 4s to 3s fid ; good to medium, 3s 4d to 2s lOd ; lambskins, 3s lOd t) 2s 6d.

DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Yards on Wednes» day the following business was transacted:— Fat Cattle—2ss head yarded, chiefly of ordinary quality. The few prime lots forward sold readily at late rates, but prices for all other qualities were decidedly easier. Best bullocks brought from £7 10a to £8 15s, ordinary £5 to £7, inferior £8 to £4s 10s, inferior £1 to £2 108. Fat Sheep —2311 were penned. This number included a few drafts of extraordinary prime sheep. With these exceptions, and perhaps two or three other consignments, the quality of the sheep forward was very indifferent. The demand for really prime sheep, either wether or ewe, was good, and last week’s prices were fully maintained, but half and threeparts fat sheep were somewhat slow of sale, even at a. reduction of Is per bead on recent quotations. Best jroasbred wethers brought from 14s 6d to 16s; ordinary do do, from 13s to 14s; light do do, from lls 6d to L2s 6d ; best crossbred ewes, from 13s 6d to 15s; ordinary do do, from L2s to 13s ; aged and inferior do do, !rom 9s to lls. Fat Lambs—236 penned, and as the smb season is virtually over, prices •uled in favor of buyers; in fact, most if the lines were takpn by graziers, Best lots brought from 9s to lls; itbers 7s to Bs. Pigs—3lo comprising all sorts, but hiefly bacon pigs r made up this week’s upply. Bacon pigs of medium weight .nd of good feeding, were in brisk lemand, and sold readily at last week’s notations; as also did .well, fed iorkers, but stores of all descriptions rare very difficult to place at any rice:—Bacon pigs, heavy, brought rom 44s to 50s; do do ordinary, rought from 30s to 42a; do do, light, I rought from 25s to 28s; porkers, 21s j, 9 245; stores, 4s 6d to 15s. ’ i
