ANNUAL MEETING OF HOUSEHOLDERS.

HILTON. The annual meeting of householders was held io the schoolroom on the 27tb inat. The attendance was small. Mr R. Skinner was voted to the chair, and read the report and balance-sheet, which were adopted. The tola! receipts for the fifteen months ending March 31, 1891, were £sl 2s, and the expenditure £43 3s 4d, easing a credit balance of £7 18s Bd, The chairman declared the following five persons duly elected to the committee— Messrs W. Bsattie, O. G. Bradley, L, H. iiooke, J. Kelland and R. Skinner. No other nominations were received. At a meeting of the newly-elected committee Mr R. Skinner was re-elected chairman.

The annual meeting of householders was held or Monday, April 27th, the attendance being small, All the members of the old committee were re elected. The following report wat read Gentlemen, —The receipts for the fifteen months ending March 81st, 1891, including credit balance at commencement, were L 27 13s 9d, and expenditure L2O 14s Id, leaving L69aßd to credit. About L 8 were spent in fencing, and the school site is now very securely fenced. Since the last meeting the number of children attending the school has considerably increased, the average attendance at present being 46, and the roll number 50. A pupil teacher has been appointed, and the attendance entitles the school also to the services of a sewing mistress. The Board xti Education has beea asked to sanction one being appointed, and will no doubt do so provided the Committee recommend a suitable person. The schoolroom was found to be too small to accommodate the increased number of children attending towards the close of last year, and the necessary steps were taken to obtain an enlargement, which were successful, and the school was re-opened after the harvest holidays of the year, with considerably increased facilities for carrying on the work of teaching. The Committee desire to express their recognition of the good work done by the teacher, Mr J, Gillespie, to whom must be given the credit for the present popularity and success of the school. The last annual standard examination resulted in the passing of all pupils presented in the standards, and the inspector made favorable remarks on the general efficiency of the teaching and discipline of the school.
