AUCTIONEERS' KEPORTS. GERALDINE. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales for the week ended April 24, 1891, as follows: The effect of the continued dry weather has told its tale by reducing the values of sheep from Is to Is 6d per head. <JEEAM>INE YAEDS At the aboye yards on Wednesday, 15th inst., the yarding consisted of 6500 sheep, 70 cattle, and 40 pigs Prices realised were : Sheep Crossbred wethers and maiden ewea at 12s 6d to 13s, crossbred ewes fat lis 7|d, 9s 3d, 7s 4d, to 7s, merino ewes at 4s<* Bd, 3a 9d, to 3s 7d, three-quarter-bred cull lambs at 5s Oi, merino wethers at4s 6d, Border Leicester rams at 3 guineas to 2i do, do do do lambs at li guineas to 1 do. Cattle —Pat cows at £3 10s to £4, steers and heifers forward at £2 10s ito £3, yearlings at 13s to £l, dry cows at £1 17s 6d. Pigs—Bacon sorts at £1 5s to £1 10s, weaners at 4s 3d. Horses —At Geraldine yards, on Thursday, we held a special sale of horses. The entry consisted of 95 head, young draughts especially being in good demand. All horses suitable for ploughing sold under keen competition at £l6 10s to £l7, £l7 10s to £2O, aged sorts (subject to trial for staunchness) £lO 15s, £l2 10s, to £l4 10s, unbroken draught colts and fillies 3-year-old at £l3 10s to £l6, yearling draughts at £7, light horses at £9, £l2, to £l4, hackneys at £5 7s 6d to £B. TEMUKA TAEDS. At above yards, on the 17th inst., we held a special sale of forward sheep, on account of Messrs J. and K. Matthews. The competition was good throughout the sale, three-quarter-bred wetherß and maiden ewes 2 and 4-tooth sold at 12s 3d, 13s, to 133 Id,

At Temuka live stock market, on the 2]stinst., we yarded 3400 sheep, 95 cattle, and 45 pigs, and sold the bulk of the entry at the following prices : Sheep—Three-quarter-bred wethers and maiden ewes at 9s lid, 11a sd, to 13s sd, half bred ewes fat at 10s to lis, crossbred lambs at 8s to 8s 3d, halfbred breeding ewes at 4a 9d to ss. Cattle—Fat steers and heifers at £5 15s to £6 15s, light weights at £3 10s to £3 15s, fat cows at fc3 15a to £3 17s 6d, steers and heifers (twoyear adds) at £1 10a to £2 12<j 6d, yearlings at 17s to £l, dry cows at £1 to £2. Pigs —Baconers at £1 10e, porkers at £1 to £1 la 6d, weaners at 3s to 4s 6d.

London, A pril 22. Consols, 96 ex div. New Zealand Four per Cent Inscribed Stock 106; 312 do, 96| April 23. At the wool sales good greasy merinos realised from 5 to 7£ per cent., and good scoured from to 10 per cent, above the rates obtained at the February series. All poer merinos show a decline of 5 per cent, aa compared with February rates, while crossbreds remain at par with the best February prices except for coarser qualities, especially those from New Zealand, which sell poorly. Foreigners are purchasing freely, and have taken, 55 per cent, of the quantity sold. The greatest difficulty is experienced in providing cold storage for New Zealand frozen mutton, owing to the enormous stocks in hand. New Zealand long-berried wheat, 455, firm. Canterbury mutton, 4|-d ; Wellington, 3|d. Hemp, Wellington, fair quality, £2l, no demand. South Australian wheat, 45s 6d, firm ; Victorian, ditto, 44a 6d, firm. The English wheat market shows a general advance of Is. The Continental and American markets are still advancing. The fiuest quality of New Zealand cheese is realising from 56s to 58s per cwt. There are many complaints made at the condition in which the apples butter, and cheese by the steamer Arawn, from New Zealand arrived.
