TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the above was held on Thursday evening. Present —Messrs W Storey (chairman), P McCaskill, W Wills, and W G Rutland. The chairman apologised for the absence of Mr J W Yelvin through a domestic bereavement, iho members desired to record their sympathy with him. COEEESPONDBNOB. A circular was read from the Education Board notifying the results of the election. Messrs John Talbot, Melville Gray, and Robert H. Pearpoint had been elected to ordinary vacancies, Mr G. H. Rhodes to that caused by the resignation of the Rev Geo. Barclay, and Mr William Storey to that caused by the death of the late R, A. Barker Esq. The inspector’s annual report on the schools in the district was received. The portion relating to Temuka was of a satisfactory character. The committees accounts were returned duly audited and certified to as correct. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The secretary submitted a rough draft of the report to be laid before the annual meeting of householders. This was considered and approved. The regulations for the approaching election were then considered. The following is a digest of them:— Nominations in the form prescribed by the Act must be left with the chairman not later than Monday, the 20th. A list of the nominations received is to be put up en the door of the school on tho following day. If seven persons only are nominated they will be declared duly elected. If less than 0 seven the remaining number required
must be nominated at the general meeting, which will take place on Monday, 27th. If more than seven are nominated will be taken in the uaual way, hut plural votiug is not allowed. The nomination forms are obtainable from the chairman. TOTE OT THANKS, The chairman said that as this would probably be the last formal meeting he desired to thank the members for the courtesy extended to him during his term of office. The meeting then terminated.
