ENGLISH MARKETS. London, January 29. Factory-made butter, ex s.s. lonic from New Zealand, sold at 115 s per cwt. Wool is firm and prices unchanged. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 107 ; do, 97£. For New Zealand wheat on passage sellers are asking 37s 6d, but buyers will not give more than 87s. New Zealand long-berried wheat, 38s—market restricted ; South Australian wheat, 39s—quiet; Victorian do, 38s 6d. Forward business in Australian wheat shipments is inactive,' and there are no Australian cargoes off Coast or in ports of 1 call. The American visible wheat supply is estimated at 45,500,000 bushels. Hemp Auckland, fair quality, averages £24 10s; Wellington, fair £22 10s. Canterbury mutton, 4 l-16d ; Wellington do, 3|-d ; Canterbury lamb, 4id. New Zealand beef—Forequarters, 3 l-16d; hindquarters, 4 7-16 d. Kauri gum is in demand, and selling at full rates. Sugar—Best German beet, 12s 9d —market flat; Java, 15s Bd—restricted. The wool marJiet is spirited, and American firms are making large purchases. Jan. 81. The butter market is drooping. Danish has fallen 10a per cwt, and Australian and New Zealand 6s. At the wool sales crossbreds were per lb dearer, and good combing merinos slightly, dearer, as compared with prices at the December series. Medium and inferior merinos are quoted at the same price as last sales, but seme lota sold at slighly lower rates. Six thousand quarters of New Zealand wheat on passage have been sold at 37s 6d. Silver has fallen to 4s 6yd per oz.
