ST. MARY’S, GERALDINE,
The annual picnic and parish gathering in connection with the Sunday School o£ the above church took place in the small park, Geraldine, on Thursday, and like the similar gatherings of previous years was a thoroughly enjoyable outing. The afternoon was cool. Adult visitors and children were present from all over the district. The tables for the adults were erected at the lower end of the park, and here an excellent and abundant meal was served at the charge of Is per head. The tables were presided over by Mesdames Preston, Fish, Pearpoint, Hawke, J. W. Pye, and Patrick. Donations of fruit, ham, milk, etc., were received from Mesdames Postlethwaite, Pearpoint, White, Every, and many other ladies of the congregation. The members of the church also subscribed very liberally towards the gathering. Swings were erected in the park and all sorts of out-door games were carried on with great spirit, Mr and Mrs Preston and the school teachers entering heartily into the sports and keeping everything going. A shower of rain about six o’clock drove the people home, and terminated somewhat early a very pleasant gathering.
