AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. GERALDINE. Messrs J. M undell and Co. report sales for the week ended January IT, 1891, as follows: — At Temuka Live Stock markets on Tuesday we effected a clearance of all sheep and pigs yarded, also the major portion of the cattle, at prices satisfactory to vendors, The totals yarded were 1300 sheep, 185 cattle, and 33 pigs. Prices realised were : Sheep Crossbred wethers and maiden ewes lls to 111 3d, halfbred wethers and maiden ewes 10a to 10a 6d, 2-teoth crossbred stores, 9s, merino wethers and maiden ewes fat 7a Bd, fat crossbred ewes 10s, 10a 3d to 10a lOd.
Cattle—Bullocks, fat, £4 10a to £4 15s; heifers, fat, £2 15$ to £3 5s ; 3-year-old steers £3 15a; 2-year-old steers and heifers £1 8a 6d to £1 Os ; dry cows £1 to £1 10a; cowa in profit £3 2s 6d, yearlings 12s 6d to 15s, Pigs—Porkers 13s to 14s, strong stores Ss to 9a 9d, weaners 5a to 5s 6d, Private Sales —During the week we disposed of several lines of fat sheep and lambs for freezing at satisfactory prices. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, January 15. Canterbury mutton, 4£d ; Wellington, 3|d. there is no Canterbury lamb on the market. New Zealand beef, hindquarters, 4*d. Auckland hemp, medium quality, averages £24 15s per tonj Welling-
ton, medium quality, £23. The market is strong, New Zealand long-berried wheat is firm at 87s 9d ; South Australian and Tictoriah wheat is also firm at 39s and 38s 6d respectively. German sugar is firm at 12s 6d; Java sugar 15s, nominal. Theshipment of New Zealand butter ex steamer Eimutaka is realising from 90s to 112 s per cwt, Jan. 16.
The American yisible wheat supply is estimated at 47,300,000 bushels. A cargo of wheat per Helen Denny, from Lyttelton, has been sold at 37s 9d. Silver has risen to 4s lid.
The Wellington Gas Company has paid a dividend of 12 per cent* for the year.
