GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The usual monthly meeting of this committee was held on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs R. H. Pearpoint (chairman), C. E. Sherratt, A. White, J. Kiordan, W. S. Maslin, J. "W, Pye, and J. Williams. COBBESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows: From the Board of Education re memhers retiring as per usual custom, and requesting the committee to nominate two persons in their stead. It was decided to nominate Messrs Melville Gray and E. H. Pearpoint. Prom the same, enclosing list of applicants for the position of assistant master rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr Bell.—There were five applicants, and it was resolved to recommend the appointment of Mr J. Colbert, at present pupil teacher in the school. THE LATE CONCEBT, Some accounts connected with the school concert were passed, but as all moneys collected had not as yet been handed in the chairman stated the balance could not be presented at that meeting. THE HEAD MASSES. In regard to the head master certain resolutions were passed, of which he will be duly notified. BELL. The chairman stated the bell would be huiag before the school re-opened, TESTIMONIAL. The chairman said that Mr A. Bell, the late assistant master at the school, had received the committee's testimonial. SCHOOL PICNIC. It was decided that as there had been so many picnics and treats during the holidays the proposed school ; picnic should be held at Easter. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £2 lis 6d were passed for payment, VISITORS. Messrs C. E. Sherratt and J. W. Pye were appointed visitors for the month. PUPIL TEAOEEE. The chairman having stated that through Mr J. Colbert being appointed assistant master another pupil teacher would be required, it was decided that the chairman should obtain the names of the scholars eligible for the position from the head master, and then call a special meeting of the committee to appoint one from the number. The meeting then closed.
