ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Dec. 14. Tallow—Medium mutton, 265; do beef, 255. English wheat market is lifeless, Continental firm, and American steady. New Zealand flour Patent, ex store, 24s 6d, Colonial oats—Fine quality average, 26a; common sorts, 22s 6d. Leather —Best sides, B|d to 9d. Dec. 15. The quantity of wool catalogued at the recent sales was: 148,000 bales,|of which 14,000 were held over. 85,000 bales were taken for export. ... A cargo of New Zealand wheat, on passage, has been sold at 36s 4|d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from London, dated 13'h inst.:— Wool—The sales closed firmly this day. bince close of last sales superior greasy merino and fine greasy crossbred have declined -|d per lb; fine scoured crossbred and coarse scoured crossbred, £d to Id per lb; combing washed, superior scoured merino, medium and inferior greasy merino, Id per lb; and medium and inferior scoured merino, Id to per lb. Coarse greasy crossbred, is easier, and lambs unchanged. The total quantity sold during the. past sales is 132,000 bales, of which 79,000 hales have been taken for the Continent and 1500 bales for America. It is estimated that '14,000 bales have been held over for future disposal. Tallow is dull of sale. Fine mutton and good beef is, worth respectively 27s 3d and 25s 9d per cwt. Frozen Meat Market quiet. Canterbury mutton is worth lb, and Wellington mutton 3|d per lb.
