SUPREME COURT TRIALS.
Auckland, Dec. 8. Kerei Kaihu, who was convicted the Supreme Court of removing the trig station in the Thames district was admitted to probation for six months, benjamin Davis, for the robberies of large quantities of hardware, &c., from Morrin and Go., was sentenced to three years’ penal servitude. Chas. Chapman, who was charged with unlawfully wounding a fellow named Davies, at Hellaby Bros., was acquitted, as he had received great provocation. Dec. 9. Te Mahuki and his followers were before the Supreme Court to-day, charged with riotous behaviour at Te Kuiti. All pleaded guilty. Te Mahuki was sentenced to 12 months, some of his followers to six months.and others to three months. Wellington, Dec. 8. James Catt was convicted of defrauding the Immigration Department of £7, and was admitted ta twelve months’ probation, on condition of refunding the money and paying £5 toward the cost of the prosecution. Ryan and Buckley, for larceny, were sentenced to six months each,
