AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. GBRALDINB. Messrs J, Mun dell and 00. report sales for the week ended Dec. 6tb, 1890, as follows : At Temuka Live Stock Market on Tuesday the entry consisted of 1900 sheep, 102 cattle, and 97 pigs. The major portion of the entry was sold at the following quotations, viz.:— Sheep—Three-quarter bred wethers and maiden 2-tooths, , fat, lls 6d, lla 9d, to 12s 3d; crossbred ewes, fat, 10s to 10s 6d; crossbred ewes, with lambs at foot. 9s 3d to 10s; f-bred wethers and maidens, stores, 2-tootb, 8s 4d. Cattle —Pat heifers, £6 7s 6d flight weights, £4 to £4 10s; ; steers, fat, £5 10s to £6; cows, fat, £3 10s to £4; 3-year-old steers and heifers, £2 10s to £3; 2-year-old do do, £2 Is to £2; yearlings, £1 to £1 ss; calves, 12s 6d to 15s. Pigs Porkers, 15s to 17s 6d; strong stores, 12s 6d to 14s; medium, 8s 6d to 9s; weaners, 4s 6d to ss. Sheepskins— We held our usual fortnightly sale of the above at the rooms of the National M. and A. Co. of N.Z , Limited, Timaru, on Wednesday, to a moderate attendance of the trade. Prices . were certainly easier, in some cases to the extent of 6d each. Butchers’ crossbreds, Ss 6d to 5s lOd ; ordinary, 4s to 4s 3d; Is Id • lamb skins, Is ; dry skins, 6£d per lb.

ENGLISH; MARKETS. Lowdoit, Dec. 4. The Bank rate of discount is now at 5 per cent. Hemp is in poor demand ; 250 bales were sold at auction to-day; good average quality realised £23 Wool is firm, and prices have hardened slightly. 'I he present series of Rales close on December 12th. Frozen meat is unchanged. Dec 5. The Bank of England returns published to-day show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be £16,672,000, being an increase of £170,000 over last week's returns. The proportion of reserves to liabilities is 45.28 per cent. .New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 106; 3£ do, 94iThree months' bills, per cent. South Australian wheat, 36s 6d, firm ; Victorian do, 38s, nominal; New Zealand long-berried, 37s 3d, firm. Silver, 3s ll^d. New Zealand rabbit skins have declined Id, and Australian from Id to 2d.
