Lyttelton, Nov. 30. The open boat Lydd, while competing in a yacht race on Saturday rtflernoon, filled. A sailor named Anderson, belonging to the ship Auckland, was drowned. The other occupants, Captains Owen and James, and two seamen, were rescued Dy the yacht JVlascotte. Christchurch, Nov. 30. Two swaggers who came from the West Coast to Culverden yesterday reported that a mate of their’s, whose name they did not know, had been drowned while crossing a river. The police are endi avouring to recover the body. Dunedin, Nov. 3o A youth named John Thomson was killed last night through a gun which

he was handling unexpectedly exploding. Deceased lived at Taieri.
