CONCERT AT WAITOHI.

A very successful concert in aid of the prize fund of the Waitoki Plat State school, took place in the schoolhouse on Friday evening last. The programme, although short, was a well-selected one, and gave evident satisfaction. Two instrumental duets by Dr Morris (piano) and W. Pearce (violin) were very nicely executed, the audience testifying their appreciation by very hearty applause. Mr Cathro sang “The Lost Child” in female character very well, notwithstanding that he was suffering from a sore throat, and subsequently contributed another item. Seyeral negro sketches, songs, and dances were given by Messrs Clinch, Kroon, Barrett, and Chambers, of the Black S&r Minstrels, who contributed very largely to rhe success of the concert, and kept the audience highly amused. The accompaniments were played by Mr E, McLeod. After the concert a dance took place, many staying to “ trip the light fantastic toe ” until a late hour. The comfort of everyone were well looked after by Mr Fraser, the chairman of the school committee, who informs us that the financial result of the concert is very satisfactory.
