THE SHOW.

To-morrow the banks and principal business places in Temuka and Geraldine will be closed on account of the annual show of the Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association. " The Show," as it is colloquially expressed, has come to be looked upon as "the event preliminary to a general revival of business and of increased activity in the labor market, and it is to be hoped that this may be the case this year. The fixture is one of tbe most popular of the year, and travelling arrangements are generally strained to meet the requirements of the public. As usual, there will be special train arrangements, which are duly notified elsewhere, and there are also numerous conveyances likely to take the road. The show promises to be as successful as ever, in spite of the fact that the entries show a falling off from last year. The quality of them, however, it is understood is improved. Temuka, G-eraldine, and Winchester will be represented —not only in stock, but in. the implement class, a section which shows an increase of exhibits. The announcement that, owing to unusually successful business in Christchurch, the Wild West Show Will not be able to open, as promised, on the show night will cause no little regret. There will, however, be a theatrical performance iu the evening, which should draw a large attendance. With favorable weather, the show should in every respect be as attractive as hitherto.
