GERALDINE HORSE PARADE.
The annual parade of stud horses, under the management of Messrs J. Mundell and Co., took place in the Geraldine Domain on Friday. The day was fine, and there was a good number of farmers and others present. The number of entries was not quite equal to that of last year. Parading the horses in the domain, instead of on the road, was a great improvement in the arrangements. The following was the list of entries-
DB&U6HT HOUSES, Mr J. Craig’s Nobleman, by Sir William Wallace—Blossom; Mr W. Wheelband's Young Taieri Tom, by Taieri Tom—Dot 11. ! Mr Q. Stumbles’# Break o’ Day, by Talari Lad—Rose.
Mr J. Beattie’s Strathmore,-by Glenroy— Darling. Messrs J. and J. Finlayson’s Time o’ Day, by Vanquisher—Bonnie Maggie. Mr A. Tooney’s Young Banker, by Banker —Princess Royal; Mr J. Wharton’s Blairgowrie, by Taieri Tom—Madge. THOROUGHBREDS. Mr J.'Loach’s Kingfisher, by SkyscraperRemnant. COACHING HOBSBB. Mr L. laureDaon’e Pbosnix, by Quamby— Lady Clare. PONIES. Messrs J. and J. Finlay son’s Ine Dhu, by Cairngorm—Quicksilver, mare. Nobleman was greatly admired. See appears to have wintered well, and is in grand condition. He is so well known in this district as to need very little describing. He has plenty of bone, with first-class muscle, and good hair, and free action, and is altogether a fine stamp of draught. Air W. Wheelband’s recent purchase, Young Taieri Tom, was closely scrutinised, and found a great many admirers.
Mr George Stumbles's horse Break o’ Day is new in. this district. He comes from Oamaru with an excellent reputation, and there his stock is very highly thought of. He is a splendid bay horse with white points, and has all the characteristics of the pure Clydesdale.
Mr A. Toomey’s Xoung Banker was shown in good condition, and the fact that he is full brother to Early Morning is sufficient recommendation for him. He is a beautiful dark bay, standing 16| hands, and is certainly a credit to the long line of famous horses from which he is descended.
Mr J, Wharton’s Blairgowrie showed all the good points of the pure Clydesdale breed. He is well and favorably known in the district, and his stock speak for themselves, Mr J. Loach’s thoroughbred horse Kingfisher is just the stamp of a sire that owners of mares would run after. He has a splendid t urf-record which he gained on many a field, besides being a powerful and strongly-built animal. Ho is now getting up in years, but he looked as fresh and active as a three-year-old, and is in splendid condition.
