GERALDINE DOMAIN BOARD.
A meeting of this board was held on Tuesday evening last. Present— Messrs A. White (chairman), W. S. Maalin, J. "Williams, A. Sherratt, R. Hammond, J. Mundell, and N". Dunlop.
A letter waß received from Mn S. Buxton, M.H.R., enclosing, a reply from the Minister of Justice, stating that the Government would give po grant for planting the bush park at present. From Mr A. E. Hawkins, Becretary of the Lawn Tennis Club, aoking that the club be allowed to put down an asphalt tennis ;court in the small park.—Mr Hawkins waited on the board in support of the application, and explained where it waa proposed to put down the court—Mr Hawkins having retired the application was discussed, and it was decided to grant the same, the liberty of the public to at all times use the park to be in way curtailed thereby: Complaints having been made of the destruction of the seats by boys and young men, and the writing and cutting of obscene words on the tables, etc , it was decided to request the Tennis Club to give all information in their power as to the culprits, and the board would take action to have them punished. The clerk was instructed to call tenders for cutting grass in the cricket oval, and the small and bush parks; also to call tenders for cutting the fence round the smalLpark, the works committee to accept a tender, for the latter work. It was decided to give Messrs Mundell and Pearpoint notice to cut the feuces and grub the gorse round their respective leaseholds at once. It was also decided to invite tenders, to be in by the next meeting, for leasing the small bush park. Accounts amounting to £1 7s 9d were passed for payment and the meeting terminated.
