The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday:— Wheat—Market firm. Best tuscans and velvets, 3s 8d 1o 3s ( 10d; other good milling sorts, 3sj6d t0.85.8d., Fowls’ wheat: Good whole is scarce,; 8s 6d to 3s 3d ; broken and inferior, 3s 6d to 2s lOd. >■' Barley—Only good malting.in demand at 2* 8d to 2a 10d ; millirig, 2a 8d to 2s sd; feed, Is 9d to 2s. Pearl barley, £ls to £l6. Oats—Bright plump feed, ls .3d to, Is 3|d ; milling, Is 4d jto la 5d ; off color, Is to la 2d—all ex store, saqks extra. j Flour—Timaru and Oamaru .roller,: £lO fob., £lO 5s here; stope, £9 ss, 50’s £9 15s ; roller 50’a, £llj. Oatmeal, £8 to £8 10«; . bran, £2 10s ; sharps, £3 10s. J Potatoes—Derwents : The market has gone to pieces. They are quoted at 40s per ton. . ! Pigs—3d to,B£d for and quality; hams, 7d to Bd,; ; bacon, 5d to 6d. 1 Chaff—Best , heavy, 37s 6d to 4Qs; medium and light, 30s to 355. Turnips, 15a;' carrots, 80s. Straw—Oaten ahd wheaten, 30a :to 355. '"■■■' ; Hay—Oaten, 360 ; clover and ryegrass, £3. Butter—Best salt scarce, but only in slight demand at 7d to do plentiful. Eggs plentiful. ■' Honey, 4d to sd. Cheese—Good cheese ( scarce, 3d to 3|d; factory,,4d. Onions, £B. Glass Seed—Ryegrass, 3s 6d to 6s; cocksfoot, 4d to sd; seconds, 3d. Rape scarce.
DUNEDIN’ STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Tarda on Wednesday the following business waa transacted Pat Uatlle—lß6 were yarded- I he greater part were prime quality. The supply proved sufficient, and, although competition was fairly brisk for best quality, prices were 10s to 16s a head down. A few half-fat cattle were keenly competed for by graziers, and brought satisfactory prices. Bullocks sold at £4 17s «d, to £lO 17s 6d for extra ; cows, £3 12s 6d, to £9 2s 6d for extra.
|V Fat Sheep—23lo were penned. This number included 800 .metinos, good mutton; the rest were crossbreds, . mostly withers. The quality all round to-day. ; was considerably below the average. Bidding was active, and prices about the same as at last week’s sale. Best wethers sold at 16s to 20s 3d, others 14s 6d to IBs 9d ; best ewes ,15s to 17s, cithers 12s 9d to 14s 9d• merino wethers, 9s 9d to 12s 6d.
Fat Lambs—A few were rather small, though all were of nice quality. Bidding was brisk, and all were sold at,l3s 9d to lls.
Pigs—Wright, Stephenson, and Op. sold 220 as follows:—Bacon pigs, extra heavy, at from 42s to 49a ; do do, ordinary, 80s to 40s ; porkers, 20a to 28s ; stores, 12s to 22s ; suckers, 6a to 12a,
ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Oct. 1. Keynolds* sample of New Zealand butter has realised 112 s per cwt., and is pronounced by experts to be nearly equal to the best Danish butter. Tallow, best mutton, 28s to 28s 6d; beef, 27s to 27a 6d. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,220,b00qr8, rnd for the Continent 772,000. The American visible supply is estimated at 16,832,000 bushels. At the wool sales faulty; scoured were slightly easier j other sorts were firm. '' - The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, hare received the following cable message from London, dated 80tb inst.:—
Wool—The sales progress steadily. Since the opening of the sales superior greasy and scoured merino have advanced £d per lb. Seedy and burry scoured merino is easier. Other descriptions are unchanged. Up to date 130,000 have been sold. Wheat—Market is declining. New Zealand wheat, f.a.q., to arrive iron ship is c.i.f., 35s 9d per 4801bs August-September bill of lading. New Zealand average and long-berried is worth respectively 35s to 86s 6d per 49611)8.
