CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addington Yards on Wednesday the market showed considerable improvement in the way of entries, and prices also held their own. Fat Cattle—The entry was about on a par with last week’s. Quality, however, was not as well represented, and prices fell away considerably. Best beef may be quoted at 20s to 22s per 1001 b. Steers sold up to £9 7s 6d, and heife-’s up to £8 7s 6d, £9 12s 6d, and one exceptional one at £l2 2s 6d, and cows up to £6 17s 6d. Store Cattle—The sale proved very dull and last week’s rates were not improved upon. Fat Sheep—The entry showed a great improvement, both in numbers and quality. Last week’s rates were well maintained, especially in regard to really prime sorts, of which there was a good number. Medium and inferior sorts were not in such good demand. A grand linq of crossbreds for the Biverslea Estate was sold as follows :—2l at 23s 3d, 25 at 22s 6d, 25 at 225, 88 at 21s 3d, 32 at 21s 6d, 68 at 20s 9d, 60 at 19s 9d. Prime crossbred wethers brought from 16s to 23s 9d, mixed ewes, light weights, from 11s 6d to 16s 3d, and some very good merinos up to ,15s 3d. Three pens of thirty crossbred wethers (shorn) sold at an average of 13s a head. Prices ranged much about the same throughout as land; week. There was a considerable demand for fretting, which assisted to keep up the values. Fat Lambs —Pat lambs were iu good demand and sold at from 9s up to 14s, the latter price being got for a few of the Hampshire breed.
