AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.
A meeting of the newly elected Arowhenua Town Board was held last night. Present Messrs Ashwell, Frew, Brown, Carr, and Eussell. The took the chair and stated that the first business would be the election of a chairman. On the motion of Mr Brown, seconded by Mr Kussell, Mr Ashwell was elected chairman for the ensning period. Mr Ashwell thanfeed the Board for the honor done him. He trusted that the future of the board would be a prosperous one. He felt that his appointment was due more to the modesty of the other members than his own merits. However, he should endeavor to do his best in the position in which they had placed him.
CIiEBK ABTD OVEBSEEB. On the motion of Mr Eussell, seconded by Mr Brown, Mr A. W. Gaze was reappointed clerk and overseer at the salary of £3O per annum.
MEETINGS, ETC. It was decided to hold the regular meetings of the board on the second Wednesday in each month as hitherto. It was;arranged that Messrs Brown and Carr sign cheques in conjunction with the chairman when possible, otherwise cheques to be signed by the chairman and any two members.
APPLICATION, An application was received from Mr Fletcher to cart clay from the north bank of the creek at Hornbrook street, and in consideration he would leave an en approach suitable for a ford.
The chairman and the overseer were authorised to report on the matter and deal with it if necessary.
BESEKYES, ETC. The clerk was requested to submit at the next meeting a statement of outstanding receipts and liabilities and probable expenditure for the year. The meeting then terminated.
