MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Board was held on Friday the 19th September. Present—Messrs 0. G. Tripp, B. Mackay, R. Thew, and G. J. Dennistoun. The chairman not being present Mr C. Gripp was voted to the chair.
COBBESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read and dealt with :
Prom the Hon, J. B. A eland, in reference to the Timaru Harbor Board Empowering Act, expressing surprise that the Board had not been consulted previous to the introduction of the Bill into Parliament, as it was stated in introducing the measure that all the Local Bodies interested had been consulted and consented to it. The clerk stated that on receipt of Mr Aclan'd's letter he had written to the Timaru Harbor Board requesting an explanation. Prom the secretary to the Harbor Board in reply to the above explaining the reasons why the board had not been consulted, and expressing regret at the omission.
From the Hon. J. B. Acland, returning plans and documents connected with closing certain roads in the Eaincliff district.
From Mr W. E. Barker, in reference to clearing gorse from the road forming the southern boundary of section 3687, stating that he had lately bought section 3607, which extended in a narrow strip along the southern boundary of section 3687, consequently he was only bound to clear gorße from the road line, which was being done. —The clerk to inform Mr Barker that the offiee map showed a two chain road along the boundary of section 3687.
Prom the Survey Office, Christchurch, returning the Eaincliff part of the district map plotted up to date. Prom the Manager Mount Peel Station, forwarding a cheque for purchase of timber on the unused road in Peel Forest between sections 1972 and 3307.
From the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board forwarding a list of recepients of charitable aid and patients treated in the hospital for the month ©f July for the Information of the board. The list was examined and commented on.
From the Chief Surveyor statin* that when a surveyor ia io e locality a road will be laid 0 £ con n ec ting the road passing between sections 26256 and 25802 with the road adjoining section 15900 in the Orari Gorge.
MISCELLANEOUS. Only one tender was received for No. 19 contract, which was considered too high, was declined, the work to stand over till after next harvest.
The clerk was directed to apply to the Registrar for the Electoral District of Geraldine for a copy of the new Electoral 801 l when revised and printed,
ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £9O 3s 4d were passed for payment. The board then adjourned,
